Speedboard USA was representing in numbers yesterday at the 30th Annual Run of the Charles Race. For the first time, Team Speedboard had three separate racers participating in three different races. The highlight of the day came from a newcomer to Team Speedboard, Ted St. Peter-Blair, as he won the 9-mile race against some good competition. Not too shabby for a race debut as he paddled the 16′ Lightweight Elite prototypeto victory!
Will Rich represented the team well, placing third overall in the 19-mile race. Will would have placed far better if his pit crew had kept up their end of the bargain. Due to some non-board related equipment issues on the 20′ Elite Unlimited prototype, his six portages were much more arduous than necessary. Needless to say, we’ll get that fixed and have Will back to his winning ways.
Speedboard’s founder, Bob Blair, also made his race debut on the day, finishing 2nd overall in the masters class for the 6 mile event, 6th overall.
Thanks so much to the organizers of this fantastic event! It’s always a pleasure to stay local on race days. We continue to learn so much at these events and we are getting closer to where Speedboard wants to be, admittedly with plenty left to do…no surprise there! Speedboard continues to elicit great reactions from folks and we take that as the best proof yet that we’re onto to something big! Of course the best part of the SUP race scene is meeting outstanding people who really understand and appreciate what makes this sport great. Looking forward to seeing those familiar faces again soon and meeting some new ones too.
