Our Story
The founding spark for Speedboard was lit when a lifelong passion for paddling encountered a new way of paddling - on a stand up board! In 2009, CEO and founder Bob Blair built himself a board and went on to become the first person to complete the 20-mile Blackburn Challenge around Cape Ann on a SUP. Since that auspicious debut, Speedboard has developed into a premium SUP brand, delivering performance-oriented boards to competitive and casual paddlers alike.
Speedboard is a stand-up paddle (SUP) board company that designs and builds innovative performance boards for paddlers. Each Speedboard is specifically designed to promote paddling efficiency (GLIDE), enabling elite racers, fitness paddlers and SUP enthusiasts to move through the water faster, with less effort.
Design
Superior glide character and stability are at the core of every Speedboard. Our foundation is a belief that Paddling = Joy. We provide our customers with an optimal paddling experience and ensure they have the best time on the water. Speedboard combines over 50 years of competitive race paddling experience, 35 years of Master Mariner hull design theory, and feedback from current and former USA National Team paddlers into board designs. We are constantly striving to be the best.
Nelo Collaboration
In 2018 SPEEDBOARD reached an agreement with NELO to combine our designs with their incredible ability to produce Olympic quality Carbon fiber watercraft. NELO is the number one company in the world producing Olympic and World Championship racing canoes and kayaks. The NELO factory in Portugal is certainly the finest watercraft production facility on the planet.
Now all Speedboards are built by NELO and set the standard in the world for lightweight, fast, durable SUP. By eliminating the use of Polystyrene (EPS) cores, we dramatically lessen our environmental impact.
Together Speedboard and NELO provide these amazing handcrafted boards to customers worldwide.
